Bathroom Remodel
Our bathroom was outdated and ugly. We had no idea whom to call and ask for estimates. Our neighbor highly recommended us to CJ. With this high recommendation we immediately decided to give him a call. I must say his estimate was very reasonable. The work we needed done was a total renovation of the bathroom. Floors and wall, fixtures the whole package. We had some ideas in mind that we would like or wanted for our bathoom renovation, but CJ pointed out improvements in our ideas and offered some we had never given thought to. And now we have a absolutely beautiful bathroom. I just stand in amazement looking at the finish work. The crew of Uniquely Custom Homes is very friendly, trustworthy and reliable. With our busy lifestyle we felt comfortable about leaving the house in the trusting hand of CJ and Bob. They are clean about their work area, conscious about the cleanliness of your home. In October 2007, we had unfortunate flooding to two-thirds of our first floor, and our basement. Our hardwood, vinyl and carpeted areas were ruined, as were our kitchen cabinets and baseboards. We decided to completely demolish and remodel our kitchen and laundry room, tear out and replace the stairway to the second floor, put down all new hardwood flooring, and replace the sliding door to the deck with french doors. Having known C.J. Adams for many years, we approached him about taking on our project. C.J. was very receptive to our ideas, anxious to share his and was eager to make our home exactly what we were imagining. He helped us find the quality products we were looking for, while being mindful of our budget. C.J. turned many sketches and photographs into reality. We had snapped photos of our favorite details in homes at the Parade of Homes, and he took those photos and turned them into an original, custom design for us. Our laundry room organizer is the envy of our friends. C.J. paid attention to even the slightest detail, that maybe some people would have never noticed. For example, the overhead kitchen light that we ordered ended up not quite matching the stain of our cabinets, so C.J. took the fixture home and re-stained it until it was just right. Then he suggested adding detail to the light with black, so that it would resemble the black glazed effect in the beveled panels on our cabinets. Who knew that a black permanent marker drawn around the molding of a light fixture would be the finishing touch! The hardest part of this project was that we were living in our home during the holidays with our three children (and dog) while remodeling was going on. One of the most important things for us was that at the end of each day, C.J. was so thoughtful to sweep up sawdust and gather his material to keep our space in some resemblance of normalcy. Most days, C.J. would arrive just as we were all preparing to leave for work and school, and he would still be working when we ended our day. It was such a blessing for us to have peace of mind while we were away at work. Just knowing the person C.J. is, his work ethic and trustworthiness, made it easy for us to focus on our jobs while he labored at our home. Another thing we appreciated throughout this project was that C.J. kept us informed on all aspects of his progress (when shipments were due in, how long each step would take to complete, what was going to happen each day, etc.). When we built our home in 1998, with a different local builder, one of the biggest frustrations we faced was lack of communication during construction. Whether you have a new build or are reconstructing an old one, it is unsettling to think you are shelling out money to a company that doesn't think to keep their customers “in the know.”

Uniquely Custom Homes was hired to build a room addition over our two-car garage. They went about their framing work in a meticulous manner. The new roof line was constructed clear-span allowing for 100% usable interior space. They built-in two huge closets and added two large windows. The exterior was sided in cedar to match the architecture of the existing house. They even matched our 15-year-old shingles! We are very satisfied with the quality of their work and would highly recommend them for remodeling projects of any size!

We are pleased to recommend C.J. Adams to you for planning and executing home improvement projects. Recently, C.J. provided ideas and sample materials to help us plan for replacing linoleum in our kitchen with wood flooring. With the selection process completed, C.J. made specific plans for the installation including matching the existing base trim. With our work schedules, we were unable to be present while C.J. made the installation. We did not hesitate to provide him self-entry in our absence and our dog was more than happy to have someone around to give her some added attention.
The completed floor looks great. Panels are tightly fitted and new flooring was installed under all appliances and in the pantry.

My wife and I wanted to have repairs to drywall in our living room and kitchen followed by new paint as well as new laminate flooring throughout the house. We remembered C.J. from him singing at our church and that he had started his own company, so we thought we'd contact him to see if he did any type of home remodeling. C.J. was very prompt to respond and we started talking about all the things we wanted completed in our house. C.J. made a visit one Saturday morning (arrived when he said he would) and walked through the areas and looked at the drywall work to be completed. A day later C.J. had started to work up a quote as well as what flooring options were available to us. C.J. dropped flooring samples and paint swatches by our house and we started the search for flooring to fit our budget. When we didn't find the flooring right off, C.J. went back to work on finding more options for us and dropped them off at our house. Once we made a decision on the paint and flooring C.J. worked with us to develop a timeline and final quote. The quote was professional and very detailed so you wouldn't be caught off-guard with hidden costs.
Once our timeline was established, C.J. showed up to work on the date and the scheduled time he said he would. One of the critical factors for my wife and I was we both work and have a 5-year-old son in school. We knew that the majority of this work was going to have to be completed during the day when we were not home. We had to be able to trust someone in our home and to come and go. We felt strongly before the job began that C.J. was trustworthy. He proved this to be true. Each day he arrived at the scheduled time and did an exceptional job cleaning up every day before leaving. This was important. Doing drywall is messy work and he controlled the dust and dirt so well you really couldn't tell this work was being done. He went out of his way to make sure we had functional living space and that tools were stored and safe so our dog or son would not get into them. C.J. is very detail oriented and worked above our expectations. He provided extra work at no additional expense just to help so everything would look good together. The drywall repair and new paint in our living room and kitchen were top notch and made it look like a new house. He removed old carpet and hardwood flooring and installed laminate flooring in approximately 1,200 square feet of our house. His trim work was excellent and detailed.
We would highly recommend using C.J. Adams of Uniquely Custom Homes for remodeling or building projects. As a matter of fact, we called him back recently and he helped us install a new garage door opener. If we have future remodeling or other projects, he will be the first we call to help.

I really wanted to let you know how much I liked my new stairs. I bought this house as a single person, and my parents thought I was crazy. The 100-year-old house had steps leading to the upstairs that were very narrow and steep. Going upstairs was like climbing a ladder. I can't count over the years how many people fell on those stairs. Now that I am older, I knew I had to get them fixed. I called Uniquely Custom Homes, explaining the problem with my stairs. I don't know how you did it but I wanted to take the time to write and say you and thank you for the great job you did! My new stairs are great! I don't have to worry about anyone falling now that my stairs are a normal width and incline. I think you did a fantastic job at a great price, and I wanted to say thank you.

In my home, there was a room addition put on many years prior to my buying this house. During the first two years of living there, I realized that the rubber roof was leaking and causing a lot of damage. I am a younger homeowner just into my 30s, and contacting builders was very scary because you just never know who you can trust. I had already had three estimates on how to fix my roof and how to repair the damage inside of this room, and I even told one contractor what I wanted done to fix this problem. This particular contractor did not take the time to listen to me, or to understand what I wanted. He only wanted to fix the problem his way. Well, that’s when I contacted Uniquely Custom Homes. From the start C.J. listened to what my needs were and what my budget was. After talking to C.J, I decided to use him for the renovation/repair of my room addition. In a timely manner, he got back to me with an estimate and a start date for the work. C.J. replaced my roof with shingles the way I requested, tearing the existing roof all the way down and replacing any damaged boards along the way. On the inside of this room, I had him replace all the existing paneling with drywall on the walls and ceiling; I also had him replace a picture window with a new energy-efficient one. I work as a paramedic and my wife is a nurse, so we are seldom home. C.J. completed 90% of this project while we were at work. C.J. is one of the few trustworthy contractors out there; I never had any concerns when he worked at my house unattended. He completed this project in a timely manner with much attention to detail. My wife and I were very pleased with his quality of work and look forward to using his services in the future.
